GNC ROLLING OUT SIX DHA SUPPLEMENTS FROM AUGUST TO OCTOBER that use docosahexaenoic acid derived from golden marine microalgae. General Nutrition is purchasing the SeaGold DHA oil under an agreement with supplier Monsanto ("The Tan Sheet" Nov. 3, 1997, p. 11). In development are six softgel capsule products delivering 200 mg/day DHA in "unique formulations" combining other "synergistic" ingredients. GNC plans to advertise the line in print and possibly on TV. A 30-day supply of the products will cost around $15-$20. The company is adding DHA to some of its multivitamin-mineral products as well.
