Executive Summary
DIETARY SUPPLEMENT LABELING REQUIREMENT FINE TUNING "INEVITABLE" as FDA gains experience in regulating the industry, Office of Food Labeling Technical Evaluation Division Director Virginia Wilkening commented at the Council for Responsible Nutrition's Oct. 21 workshop on the recent FDA final rules on supplement labeling. Noting, for example, industry's concern with requirements for label descriptions of dried extracts, Wilkening said FDA is "willing to work" with companies to "arrive at a solution." The rules were published Sept. 23 ("The Tan Sheet" Sept. 29, pp. 2-6).
