Executive Summary

OTC LABELS CONSULTED FOR PRODUCT INFORMATION BY EIGHT IN 10 CONSUMERS participating in a recently released telephone survey of 1,202 adults sponsored by the American Pharmaceutical Association and Prevention magazine. Three-fourths of the respondents reported they use doctors as a source for information about OTC products; 70% named pharmacists; and 64% said they rely on friends and family for advice on choosing the right OTC. The interviews were conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates between March 22 and April 2.
