Executive Summary
OTC DRUGS OF ABUSE TESTS NEED FOR PRESUMPTIVE-POSITIVE CONFIRMATION must be conveyed to consumers on product labeling as a means of backing up positive or potentially positive test results, FDA's Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology Devices Panel suggested at its Sept. 25 meeting in Bethesda, Md. "FDA should spell out instructions for confirmatory testing in such a way that [labeling would convey] why confirmatory testing needs to be done," said consultant James Everrett, MD/PhD, Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta.
