Executive Summary
Dietary supplement final rules: FDA to publish six final rules on dietary supplements during the week of Sept. 22. Three are final versions of proposed labeling rules published Dec. 28, 1995 on: nutrition and ingredient labeling, including use of a "supplement facts" box; nutritional support statements, including use of a disclaimer; and use of claims such as "high potency" and "antioxidant" ("The Tan Sheet" Jan. 1, 1996, pp. 16-22). Two are final versions of proposals published Sept. 27, 1996 on 30-day advance notifications of the use of structure/function claims and pre-notifications of new dietary ingredients ("The Tan Sheet" Sept. 30, 1996, p. 1).
