Vitamin C/asthma study: Vitamin C "may have a protective effect on the airway hyperreactivity in some patients with EIA [exercise induced asthma]," study published in the April edition of Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine concludes. However, "the efficacy of vitamin E in preventing EIA cannot be predicted," the researchers, Herman Cohen, MD, et al., Tel Aviv University, say. In the study, 20 asthma patients ages 7-28 were randomly assigned to 2 g ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) or a placebo one hour before a seven-minute treadmill session, after which pulmonary tests were conducted.
