Executive Summary
Sodium labeling: FDA is postponing the effective date of the sodium labeling final rule for OTCs intended for oral ingestion, except for products containing sodium bicarbonate, sodium phosphate or sodium biphosphate, to match that of the calcium, magnesium and potassium labeling final rule. The calcium, magnesium and potassium labeling final rule is expected to be published in the Federal Register "in the near future" and will be effective a year afterward. The delay is in response to requests that the two dates be the same. Both rules call for label content and warnings for products containing specified amounts of the substances.
