BACTERIAL ANTISEPTIC RESISTANCE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM NEEDED as part of the plan to regulate antiseptic handwashes, suggested Lynn McKinley-Grant, MD, Washington, D.C. Hospital Center, at a Jan. 22 joint meeting of FDA's Nonprescription Drugs and Anti-infective Drugs Advisory Committees in Gaithersburg, Md. "There probably will need to be a method in the healthcare continuum model" proposed by industry for regulation of antiseptic handwash products to "evaluate bacterial [resistance] on a continuing basis," McKinley-Grant, a member of NDAC, said.
