Executive Summary
SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE SAFETY STUDY METHODS IRRELEVANT TO CONSUMER PRACTICE as it relates to safety, according to Lewis Cancro, Cancro, Inc., Trumbull, Conn. Cancro, a nonvoting industry rep, said at FDA's Dental Product Panel Plaque Subcommittee meeting Dec. 16-17 in Bethesda, Md. that "the wearing of occlusive patches" of SLS to test for safety "really doesn't have relevance to the ways these products are used. Certainly the vast experience with [SLS] in this country and around the world doesn't suggest that it is problematic" with regard to safety concerns.
