HOUSE COMMERCE COMMITTEE GET FIRST FEMALE GOP MEMBER since Republicans gained the House majority in 1994. During the week of Nov. 18, the House Republican Steering Committee appointed Rep. Barbara Cubin (Wyo.) and four other members to seats on the Commerce Committee. Cubin was swept into Congress in 1994 in the Republican landslide. She took over the seat formerly held by GOP Rep. Craig Thomas, who was elected to the Senate.
