Executive Summary
NICOTINE PATCH THERAPY IN ADOLESCENTS "SAFE AND WELL TOLERATED" in a non-randomized, open-label clinical study conducted by Todd Smith, MD, et al., Mayo Clinic. The study, published in the October issue of Pediatrics, determined that 22 mg/day nicotine patch therapy "seems safe and well tolerated in adolescent smokers" under 18. The authors noted, however, that further placebo-controlled studies are needed to demonstrate the efficacy of the patches in adolescent populations.
