LOW VITAMIN D INTAKE LINKED TO OSTEOARTHRITIS PROGRESSION IN KNEES, according to a prospective observational study published in the Sept. 1 Annals of Internal Medicine. Timothy McAlindon, Boston University Medical Center, et al. found that "persons with low intake and low serum levels of vitamin D are approximately three times as likely to have progression of established osteoarthritis of the knee than are persons with high intake and high serum levels."
