Executive Summary
FDA BLOOD GLUCOSE TEST STRIP ALERT MISSED BY 38% OF PHARMACISTS surveyed via phone by HHS' Office of the Inspector General, according to a July 17 OIG report. Examining the effectiveness of an Oct. 11, 1995 FDA safety alert on defective blood glucose test strips manufactured by Diagnostic Solutions, the OIG audit of 462 pharmacies nationwide found that just over 60% of the vendors "acknowledged receiving" the FDA notice.
