FDA HOTLINE HAS RECEIVED OVER 75% OF DIETARY SUPPLEMENT COMPLAINTS made to the agency for such products in the first six months of 1996, based on information from the agency's Office of Special Nutritionals current as of July 5. The agency recorded approximately 295 adverse reactions to dietary supplements in the first half of the year. Of those, 195, or approximately 78%, are listed as received through the agency's adverse reaction hotline. A substantial number of the complaints relate to ephedra products.
