Executive Summary
Redux: Prescription anti-obesity drug approved by FDA on April 29. Wyeth-Ayerst and Interneuron will introduce the product in June 1996. The cost of Redux (dexfenfluramine) to the patient will be approximately $2.40 per day. It will be available in 15 mg capsules, to be taken twice daily. Redux is scheduled by the Drug Enforcement Agency as Category IV, meaning "low potential for abuse." Prescription restrictions for Category IV drugs allow "up to five renewals" within a six month period.
