SUPPLEMENTAL CALCIUM REDUCES PREGNANCY-INDUCED HYPERTENSION, PREECLAMPSIA in 14 randomized controlled trials reviewed by Heiner Bucher, MD, et al. The researchers from McMaster University and the University of Waterloo in Ontario observed that the incidence of pregnancy-induced hypertension was reduced by 70% with calcium supplementation, and the incidence of preeclampsia dropped by more than 60%. Bucher et al.'s meta-analysis appears in the April 10 Journal of the American Medical Association.
