Executive Summary
"HIGH POTENCY" CLAIM ALLOWED FOR SUPPLEMENTS CONTAINING 100% OF RDI or more under a proposed rule, published in the Dec. 28 Federal Register, that covers "high potency", "antioxidant" and "sugar free" claims. The agency concluded that if supplements labeled "high potency" contain 100% of the RDI per serving of given nutrients, then "a person consuming a `high potency' vitamin or mineral will be assured of meeting his or her need for the nutrient described as `high potency.'" The "high potency" notation will refer only to those nutrients with established RDIs.
