Executive Summary
OTC CONSUMER AWARENESS PROGRAMS RECOMMENDED in conjunction with standardized labeling efforts by members of FDA's Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee. At a Sept. 29 meeting following a public hearing on OTC label reform, NDAC member Theodore Tong, PharmD, University of Arizona School of Pharmacy, suggested that FDA "support consumer awareness programs" on over-the-counter drugs to reinforce information that is provided on OTC labels. He added that the agency could enlist consumer groups to help devise and implement the programs.
