Executive Summary

OSTEX, METRIKA COLLABORATING ON OTC OSTEOPOROSIS TEST development. The two firms are working on a one-step disposable test based on Ostex' technology for detecting cross-linked N-Terminal Telopeptides (NTx), a specific degradation marker of type I bone collagen. A quantitative reading of bone resorption (loss) is made by measuring the level of NTx in a urine sample. An above-normal reading of bone resorption is associated with osteoporosis.
