FOLIC ACID FORTIFICATION CLINICAL TRIALS RECOMMENDED by pediatrician Judith Hall, MD, University of British Columbia School of Medicine, in a presentation at a June 18 conference on birth defects sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Hall said that "organized trials" are needed to ensure that women of reproductive age achieve the 400 mcg/per day folic acid consumption level recommended by the Public Health Service.
