FDA WILL DELAY NUTRIENT CONTENT/NUTRITION LABELING ENFORCEMENT UNTIL 1997, Center for Food Safety & Applied Nutrition Director Fred Shank, PhD, told the Council for Responsible Nutrition in a Jan. 30 letter. Shank said FDA is working on a Federal Register notice that will postpone enforcement of the nutrition labeling provisions "until after Dec. 31, 1996." FDA will publish the notice "in the very near future," he said.
