MA HUANG 60 MG UPPER LIMIT RECOMMENDED by participants at a Dec. 1 conference in Orlando, Fla. held to discuss industry policy on the herbal ingredient. Industry members including representatives of the National Nutritional Foods Association and the American Herbal Products Association concluded that products containing Ma Huang, or ephedra, should bear labeling that directs individuals not to exceed 60 mg of Ma Huang per day. The recommendations made at the meeting are expected to be voted on by the NNFA and AHPA boards in the near future and ultimately conveyed to industry and FDA.
