Executive Summary
CPSC FINAL CRP RULE WOULD INCLUDE "TEMPORARY ENFORCEMENT EXEMPTION" for companies that cannot comply by the rule's effective date if a recommendation by the Consumer Product Safety Commission staff is adopted by the commission. In a Dec. 6 briefing package, staff advised the commission to establish a one- year effective date for the final rule on new child-resistant packaging test protocols. However, the briefing package also recommends that CPSC "provide a temporary enforcement exemption provision for those companies that demonstrate that they cannot meet the effective date."
