Executive Summary
ANTIOXIDANT VITAMINS SHOW NO EVIDENCE OF REDUCING ADENOMA INCIDENCE in a four-year, 751-patient clinical trial of beta carotene and vitamins C and E that appears in the July 21 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine. The study authors, led by principal investigator Robert Greenberg, MD, Dartmouth Medical School, concluded that "the lack of efficacy of these vitamins argues against the use of supplemental beta carotene and vitamins C and E to prevent colorectal cancer."
