RIBOFLAVIN DISSOLUTION RATE VARIABILITY NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED in establishing riboflavin as the index vitamin for dissolution testing of multiple vitamin and mineral products, industry representatives concluded during workshops at the May 22-25 U.S. Pharmacopeia open conference on standards and information issues for dietary supplements. Summarizing the workshop discussions, USP Vitamins, Minerals and Enterals Subcommittee Chair Ralph Shangraw, PhD, University of Maryland, said that riboflavin "comes in a number of different forms and there is still a paucity of information as to the rates of dissolution from these forms."
