CPSC PROPOSED CRP STANDARDS ACCOMMODATING SENIOR ADULTS

This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

CPSC PROPOSED CRP STANDARDS ACCOMMODATING SENIOR ADULTS "may expose more children to potential danger," the Nonprescription Drug Manufacturers Association asserted in a May 20 letter to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Commenting on a CPSC proposal published in the March 21 Federal Register that would require child-resistant packaging closures to pass senior adult use effectiveness (SAUE) tests ("The Tan Sheet" March 28, p. 6), NDMA maintained that "even a small incremental decrease in child- resistance could inadvertently expose many additional children to potentially harmful substances."
