Proposed reorganization, announced in the May 9 Federal Register, would separate OLA into two staff offices that would serve as the agency's focal point with Congress, HHS, PHS and other agencies on legislative issues. Congressional Affairs Staff I would handle legislative issues that involve the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, the National Center for Toxicological Research and the veterinary drugs center; Congressional Affairs Staff II would serve the same legislative purpose on issues that pertain to the Center for Drug Evaluation & Research as well as the biologics and device centers
