Executive Summary
McNeil's data submission to the Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee on upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding associated with aspirin use in heavy drinkers is now publicly available in FDA's docket covering the rulemaking for OTC internal analgesic, anitpyretic and antirheumatic drug products at the request of the Aspirin Foundation of America ("The Tan Sheet" Aug. 2, In Brief). The advisory committee is scheduled to consider the issue at a Sept. 8-9 meeting. A request by AFA to delay the meeting until December was denied by FDA in an Aug. 11 letter.
