Executive Summary
National Institute for Medical Research in France begins study to determine whether nutritional rather than medical doses of vitamin C and E, beta carotene, zinc and selenium supplements are helpful in preventing certain cancers and heart disease. The study is expected to span eight years and incorporate 15,000 volunteers reflecting the French population. Scherer, which will supply softgel capsules of vitamins and placebos for the first phase of the trial, said that the first 1,000 subjects have been enrolled.
