Anticaries product labels

Executive Summary
P&G tells FDA in March 24 letter that "clear and specific labeling aimed at minimizing the amount of fluoride ingested from dentifrices by children at risk of fluorosis (children under age six)" is a "more appropriate response than labeling dentifrice fluoride concentrations." In response to an FDA call for comments on fluoride-level information in dentifrice labeling, P&G said that statements proposed by the American Dental Association, such as "Do not swallow" and "Use only a pea-sized amount for children under six," are "excellent first steps in this area." P&G and Colgate also agreed with NDMA and CTFA that fluoride labeling would be confusing to consumers ("The Tan Sheet" April 5, p. 11).
