Gary Curchan, MD, Harvard School of Public Health, et al. find "no significant association between the use of [calcium] supplements and the risk of kidney stones" in a study published in the March 25 New England Journal of Medicine. The researchers initiated the study to determine whether a high dietary calcium intake increases the risk of kidney stones. However, study results indicated that high dietary calcium intake "decreases the risk of symptomatic kidney stones".
