Executive Summary
Jerold Mande appointed acting associate commissioner for legislative affairs until a political appointee fills the post on a permanent basis. Currently a special assistant to Commissioner Kessler, Mande was a congressional aide to Vice President Gore. Mande replaces Kay Holcombe, who left FDA to join the staff of the House Energy and Commerce Committee ("The Tan Sheet" March 8, In Brief). Also, Janet Rose, who joined FDA in November 1992 from Mead Johnson is named acting director of FDA's Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications for a 120-day detail.
