Executive Summary
The pharmaceutical industry needs to transform from a manufacturer of medications to a participant, partner, and investor in healthcare. A purely product-centric model based on clinical trial data and focused on differentiation, innovation, or unmet need is no longer enough to satisfy the users and purchasers of medicines. This article will look back at the history of substantiating the value of biopharmaceutical products and then look forward to the different tiers or “levels of depth” that could exist in a more patient-centric approach to value substantiation.
