Medicare Will Account For 28% Of Rx Spend In 2006

This article was originally published in The Pink Sheet Daily

Executive Summary

Despite the increase in Medicare's share of the drug spend, Part D is not expected to have a significant impact on the size of the total U.S. prescription drug market, a CMS report says. Instead, Medicare's increased share will result from the program assuming much of the Rx costs from Medicaid, private health plans and patients paying out-of-pocket.
