CMS conference on eRx incentives set for October

CMS will host a conference to discuss specific details of how it will implement electronic prescribing incentives outlined in the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act in Boston Oct. 6-7. The agency expects the event will provide stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to implement e-prescribing; provide information on how the incentive structure will work within the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative program (1"The Pink Sheet" DAILY, July 21, 2008); offer discussion on how e-prescribing and other e-health tools can increase patient compliance; identify and promote opportunities to overcome barriers to adoption; and address concerns about privacy, security and risk management with respect to implementation of the incentive program
