FDA announces final rule requiring new drugs and biologics that are therapeutically important for children, or will be commonly used in children, to include labeling information on safe pediatric use. The proposed rule was issued in August 1997 ("The Pink Sheet" Aug. 18, 1997, p. 3). The agency plans to create a panel of outside experts to oversee implementation of the rule
