BLOOD PRODUCT MANUFACTURER RECALL HOTLINE PROPOSED BY REP. SHAYS at a House Government Reform/Intergovernmental Relations Subcommittee hearing on FDA oversight of blood safety July 31. In light of the increasing number of recalls of blood products due to potential donor contamination, "I would think...that every manufacturer would be able to have a number [for patients] to call to enter the lot number and [find out] the status" of a product before taking it, Shays (R-Conn.) suggested.
