McKESSON WILL USE GENERAL MEDICAL FIELD FORCE TO MARKET INJECTABLES to physician office-based practices, McKesson CEO Mark Pulido reported during a Jan. 28 teleconference. Richmond, Va.-based General Medical has 500 account representatives who call on physicians' offices as part of the company's medical and surgical supply distribution business. McKesson is buying General Medical, "the nation's leading supplier to the full range of alternate-site health care facilities" and "the third-largest distributor of medical-surgical supplies to hospitals," for a total of $775 mil. in cash, stock and debt, the company announced.
