Executive Summary
NEW YORK CARELINE PHARMACY COMPLIANCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM, run by the Irvine, Calif.-based firm BehavioralCare and the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York, has secured commitments from insurers and unions to participate beginning in November. The CareLine program, "a proactive telephone-based reminder, verification, support and reporting service," focuses on homebound but ambulatory patients who otherwise would be consigned to nursing home and long-term care facilities. The cost of the program is about $350 per patient per month, a fraction of the cost of institutional care, according to CareLine materials.
