ACETAMINOPHEN PREFERRED OSTEOARTHRITIS FIRST-LINE DRUG THERAPY for pain in the hip and knee in doses up to 1,000 mg, four times a day, according to American College of Rheumatology guidelines for osteoarthritis management released Oct. 23. If responses to acetaminophen therapy are inadequate, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug therapy is the next step in the treatment continuum.
