Baboon stem cell transplant: FDA approves transplant of baboon stem cells into a 37-year-old male AIDS patient Aug. 2. The Phase I trial, to begin by mid-October, proposes to treat HIV infection through immune system reconstitution; baboon cells are resistant to HIV-1 infection.
