GATT TRADE AGREEMENTS PROVIDE FOR PHARMACEUTICAL TARIFF ELIMINATION, as expected, as well as the elimination of tariffs on medical equipment in major industrial markets starting July 1, 1995, when the agreement goes into effect. The multilateral trade negotiations of the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade that conclude on Dec. 15 also call for "significantly reduced or eliminated tariffs in many developing markets."
