Operation Goidpill
Executive Summary
FDA health care fraud operation has resulted in criminal charges against 271 individuals or companies and 176 convictions to date, Joe Ford, of the FBI's White Collar Crimes Section, reports to the National Health Lawyers Association Sept. 27. The project has netted $6.6 mil. in forfeited assets returned to the government plus $6.8 mil. in paid fines. Operation Goidpill, involving investigations of drug diversion, fraudulent billing, and money-laundering, became public on June 30, 1992 when a nationwide sweep resulted in the arrest of more than 100 individuals ('The Pink Sheet" July 6, 1992, p. 3).
