Executive Summary
San Antonio center developing guidelines on cost-effective drug use in four drug categories -- nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, H[2] receptor antagonists, antibiotics and cardiovascular drugs - that together account for 70% of Army drug spending. Specifically, fluoroquinolone antibiotics, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers and HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors will be reviewed and the guidelines will serve as a "preferred drug list." Center was established in January ("The Pink Sheet" Dec. 21, 1992, T&G-15).
