Executive Summary
William Pietersen to exec VP and president of the consumer health group, effective at the "end of January." He succeeds Herbert McKenzie who retired Dec. 31 to pursue personal interests. Most recently president of the Seagram Beverage Group of Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Pietersen also has held management positions with Guinness America and the Unilever Group. Sterling divided its operations into separate pharmaceutical and consumer health product lines in early 1992. Goals for the consumer business include having 75% of established brands in the top three market positions by 1996; having sales grow three percentage points faster than the market; and being among the top three OTC firms worldwide in terms of operating profits ("The Pink Sheet" Sept. 7, p. 15).
