Ex-New York Yankees Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford appeared at Ciba-Geigy exhibit booth at the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists meeting in New Orleans Dec. 9. They were accompanied by Paul Greenberg, MD, a Voltaren clinical investigator, who introduced the two and briefly discussed the clinical trials. Company representatives accepted written requests for autographs. Ciba-Geigy said the appearances do not contradict its recently announced changes to its advertising policies ("The Pink Sheet" Sept. 23, p. 16). While the company has foresworn the use of celebrity endorsements to lay audiences, Ciba-Geigy believes that professional audiences will not be influenced unduly by celebrities. . . .
