European license Boehringer Mannheim is being sued in Germany by Ortho Pharmaceuticals for patent infringement, Genetics Institute announced June 7. The suit stems from Ortho's European license for EPO. Boehringer Mannheim has filed a formal opposition to the Ortho licensed patent; the European Patent Office is now reviewing the opposition. Genetics Institute received a European patent for its product in May.
