Executive Summary

Exec VP Edward Bessey adds additional oversight of Pfizer Consumer Products Group. Bessey has been in charge of the company's Hospital Products Group since 1982. Joseph Harmon, who has been president of Pfizer Consumer products since 1984, reports to Bessey. The group has been expanding rapidly of late with the addition of Plax anti-plaque rinse, which had sales worldwide of $175-180 mil. in 1990. Pfizer described the change in management responsibilities as "another step" in the company's two-year leadership transition preparatory to the upcoming retirement of Pfizer Chairman and CEO Edmund Pratt.
