Executive Summary

Opening ceremony for the new $5 mil. guest residence for National Institutes of Health pediatric patients and their families were held June 21. President Bush, HHS Secretary Sullivan, NCI Chief of Pediatrics Phillip Pizzo, MD, and Merck Chairman Roy Vagelos were among the speakers at the ceremony. Merck has donated $3.7 mil. for the construction of the inn. Other healthcare companies that have contributed to the project are Lederle, Warner-Lambert, J&J, SmithKline Beecham, Abbott, Baxter Labs, Bristol-Myers Squibb, DuPont, Pfizer, Schering-Plough, Searle, Upjohn, Sterling, Boehringer Ingelheim, Marion Merrell Dow and Sandoz.
