TPA production in mice
Executive Summary
Integrated Genetics and NIH announced Oct. 26 the production of the clot-dissolving agent in the milk of mice through the introduction of human and mouse genetic material in the animal. "This is the first published report in which a research team . . . has induced animals to produce a biologically active human therapeutic protein in their milk," the biotech firm said. Researchers plan to further test the potentially economical production method in larger animals such as goats and cows.
